Regarding the High Rollers club...
This forum was set up by sk and I one night when we were bored. The purpose of it was to encourage active posting on the boards, and give a special private forum for people who weren't necessary members of the clan, but were participating in it.
Unfortunately, ever since we opened it, people have been spamming to try to get into the forum. This is mostly the case with people who are within a couple hundred posts of 500. I'd like to require all 500 posts to be of a certain length or quality, but we have no way to enforce this.
So... here are some options on what we can do with the HRC to reduce spamming.
a) Close the high rollers forum and make it read only so that anyone, regardless of post # can read the forum.
b) Significantly lower the required post count to something like 100 posts. I think we'd still see some spam if we did this, but not as much.
c) Change the High Rollers club to let people in based on how long they've been active members of the forum. For example, only people who have been active members for a year or more would be allowed in. This is probably what I'd vote for because it's spam proof, and keeps the forum going.
What do you guys think or this? I don't think there's been a problem that this clan can't solve.

I like the idea that active members should be allowed into the High Rollers after they have been with the clan for a year! As i am already a member of the said club, i should stay as such! Dede will have to wait until she has been a member a year! Only jk!
Seriously though, if you decide to go ahead with this idea, being the fair person that i am. I am quite happy to have my membership to the HR revoked until i too have been a member for a year!

The problem with the one year is that it allows 57 people into the forum, vs the 10 people in there right now. Also many of those 57 people don't have any posts at all or only have 1 or 2 posts.
Also, it's important to keep in mind that the purpose of the HRC was to encourage people to post. (just not spam) If we let people in based on when they joined, that completely negates it's purpose.
I'm not sure that there is a good solution to this.

I say we burn it down and make a new one.
Just kidding. The only fair thing to do is make a Low Rollers Club where we gripe about those evil few in the high rollers club. Then, once we reach 500 posts we because one of the evil few and enjoy a hearty chuckle at the expense of the low rollers. We could even set up in-clan matches with low rollers vs high rollers

The one year time limit is sort of absurd though, no offense. It doesn't really encourage more people to come in my opinion. It sort of encourages people to stick around I guess, but that's an awful long time... (and I'm not saying this just because I joined in April)Captain_Obvious wrote:We have a discussion about this in the HRC forum.
It looks like we're getting rid of the 500 post requirement, and we'll be letting people in who we've decided are active posters in the forums.

I highly doubt people are signing up for these forums with the goal of reaching that board on their minds.smantie wrote:The one year time limit is sort of absurd though, no offense. Personally, I have no interest in the high rollers club. I have a hard enough time as it is reading through the posts on the regular forum. I mean, between that and the voices in my head I just don't have the time!
Also, I don't want to spend my life in front of a computer. Go outside! It's nice out there! Trust me!
Sorry, I'll go now.
Best,
SPS

I just don't see the point. I've been a member for over 2 years now and I still don't have the post count to make it in. Not a big deal.
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive…†And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming: “Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?â€
