It wouldn't be so bad if we got shit back... it's one thing to pay taxes... but where the hell are they going? I don't feel like I benefit from them.

It's sad though, we've already got the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world... We've invaded enough countries as it is... and it's time NASA started hitting their targets and got successful missions out of them. Can't nerds do anything right these days?

4.1% on education.. that's absolutely pitiful. Those numbers sort of disagree with what I got from the Friends' Committee on National Legislation which says
It's still pitiful either way. As of 04/21/2006 the public debt was at $8,349,970,836,065.88. That's rediculous. During the 8 years Clinton was in office, public debt only increased by a little more than a trillion dollars, and in the 5 years Bush has held office it's gone up almost 3 trillion. Something really wrong is going on and as taxpayers we shouldn't have to be the ones to suffer.49% of federal income taxes are spent towards war. This includes war, preparing for war, obligations from past wars including veterans programs and the military portion of interest on the national debt.
17% of federal income taxes are spent on Medicaid, which helps to provide assisted living for the elderly poor and healthcare for the disabled or poor.
16% of federal income taxes are for running government (paying politicians, energy costs and expenses, ect.), law enforcement and non-military homeland security, commerce promotion, public safety and health, ect.
9% of federal income taxes go to education and social services.
8% of federal income taxes are spent towards food stamps, rental assistance, temporary assistance for needy families, energy assistance for poor and low-income households, and income security for people with disabilities.
2% of federal income taxes are spent on the environment, environmental protection, natural resource conservation and development, energy resources and public land management.
1% of federal income taxes are spent for diplomacy, international cooperation, humanitarian and development aid, and addressing the root and causes of war.
