OMG!! That is so sad. What kind of cancer?Megor wrote:I found out my dog has cancerBitchy wrote:What did you cut off today?Megor wrote:feh I had a very bad day give me some slack
I just called my friend in Calgary and he provided me with this information:
There is a specialist clinic in Calgary your vet could call. It is called "Western Veterinary Specialist Centre". Their phone number is (403) 770-1340. My friend has dealt a lot with them as he works a lot with cat rescue. If the cancer is operable, they have a surgeon there named Dave Szyntimery (sp?). I think he's considered to be one of the best in North America. I also think that he specializes in dogs.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and your pup!
Thanks for info, its very advanded prostate cancer, unfortunatly the only treatment for it is radiation therapy which would need to be done out of province and the median lifespan after the therapy is only 180 days. Hes in a lot of pain, so hes going to be put to sleep while I'm out of town this week (very bad timing).Bitchy wrote:OMG!! That is so sad. I'm so sorry to hear that! My sincerest condolences on your loss! I hope that with your last few moments with him you can let him know how much you love him and how much he will be missed!Megor wrote: Thanks for info, its very advanded prostate cancer, unfortunatly the only treatment for it is radiation therapy which would need to be done out of province and the median lifespan after the therapy is only 180 days. Congrats on that. It's nice to get a little good news!
Why don't you try this.Turbo_asswhup wrote:are you one of those people who treats thier pets as real people?
i dont mean to offend but i never quite understood that type of person.
i used to have pets as a child but was never THAT attached to them.
Spend weeks bottle feeding a kitten or pup who just lost his mom to a car and see if you don't become attached to the little fellow.
Sorry to hear about that Megor. I know how it is, this last summer we had to put down our horse of 10 years, and 1 week later a dog we had for 13 years. Both were a big part of the family.
I kind of understand what turbo is saying. I get a huge belly laugh from seeing some 7'5" long haired, tattoed, beer gutted, fugittive looking mans man driving his 4 wheel drive truck with bumper stickers that read "Death to All" sitting in the cab with a dog no bigger that his fist on his lap. A guard dog maybe? I don't know just makes me laugh.
