What you need to know about the Gaza conflict

I noticed some strong misconceptions about the Gaza conflict in the Seasons Greetings post that I just wanted to correct without turning a holiday thread into a war discussion.

I just want to clear up a misconception. This is a Zionist - Palestinian issue and not a Jewish - Muslim issue. Its has absolutely nothing to do with religion. The Jews and the Zionists are two completely different people. A majority of the worlds Jewish population strongly opposes the Zionist regime and its current actions against the people of Gaza. I went to both of the protests in Philadelphia and there was a surprisingly large number of Jews that showed up to show their solidarity. And by large number im talking a ratio of possibly 5 Jews to every 15 Arabs. The Jewish race is not to blame here. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Zionist pigs and the Israeli war loving government.

Israel, must cease its campaign of murder and pay retribution to the people of Gaza. They must end the civilian massacre and tear down their blockades. I feel intense anger toward Israel for its aggression against the Palestinian people for the last 62 years. Most people don't even know that from 1917 to 1947, the Zionist people were basically a tiny group of Jewish atheists that made up less than 1% of the Jewish population. Their actions and manipulation has even been condemned by the holiest of Orthodox Rabbis.

I just felt I needed to put that on the table so the wrong ideas don't spread. When you let false ideology spread, you are doing the same thing that the Zionist's did to trick the world.

If the comments that you're referring to are the ones made by Smantie, my own impression of things are that he just thinks it's funny to bash Jews and his comments about them probably actually have little to do with the current conflict. I'm all for free speech, but if anyone finds these racist or offensive, send me a PM and we'll take care of the issue.

So Israel has now invaded Gaza, under the premise that they need to eliminate Hamas, a political party of Palestine which is also considered a terrorist organization by the US government (that's kind of ridiculous that a political party can be considered a terrorist organization... why can't Republicans be considered terrorists already?) and to bring "security" to Southern Israel, even though only 4 Israeli's died. They probably lost more people in car crashes in a single day than they did in the 8 days of this conflict. Now Israel is saying they are "not after Hamas" and Israel is now saying they may be in Gaza for months.

There was a UN Security Council meeting last night and the US vetoed a resolution calling Israel to make an immediate ceasefire. The other funny thing is that the UN couldn't have any affect on Hamas or Palestine because they don't recognize Palestine as a country. I watched an interview with the former Queen of Jordan and she mentioned that Palestine has some of the most horrible living conditions in the world. They cannot travel: Israel blocks them via water and land, they have no economy due to the Israeli blockade. Most people there rely on aid, and it's actually easier for parents to send their children off on the streets (or to be militants) so they don't have to pay to feed and clothe them. Palestine is absolutely a problem which Israel has created and they deserve to be treated worse than they've treated Palestine.
