Good luck making something close to WoW or Ragnarok. ;)

You might try http://www.playerworlds.com/ tho. Their site is pretty broken, but it may be what you're looking for. Graphics are crappy too, but I guess they're only as good as the sprites you draw. ;) Besides, that's like the only thing Google pumped out for me. :D Oh that and http://www.google.com/search?q=RpgMaker2k but I couldnt find any decent sites for that one.

I'd say about 20 million and a team of developers and artists would be a start.

You need programming knowledge and DarkBasic is good, Although it isn't free there's a crack maybe

And a good server to host your playerworlds.

Oh oh lets do it in visual basic, ever better! If you don't use goto's your missing the point of using basic.

I think the bottom line here is that Blueeyes will never make an MMORPG. ;)

I wanna see an Unreal MMORPG tho!!!! that would be fun stuff.

Darkbasic is designed specificly for games, and you can make excellent games with it, Visual Basic on the other hand is a pile of shit thats only good for gay little apps that don't do anything. 0wnt

Depends on who makes the games, It's a good engine.

Engineers still rave about Fortran, but it's a horrible language for doing anything other than straight computation (and even with that there are better choices nowadays). Basic is a subset of Fortran which isn't even good at computation. Doing anything in Basic is asking for a shit-load of heartache. I, too, would be interested in knowing what games have actually been produced using that engine.

Nerm the Worm !!!

I painstakingly copied 5 pages of code from a magazine back in the late 70's when basic was the most documented language to use and easiest to use for noobs . :P

Plus the only drive I had was cassette drive. I mowed the lawn waiting for the 2.5k file to be saved to tape. :) If the tape wasn't long enough or had problems (power, dirty heads) no big deal just type it all over again.

and... hehe my first 300 baud modem, pfft kids today think they now what lag is.

Anyways wasn't really the coolest game, this thread about Basic just brought back memories. 8) :P

Yeah.. I remember doing this. In the early 80s, I learned 2 languages (on my own) . Basic and 6502 assembler. You ALWAYS got something wrong when you typed the program in so you always got different results if you had to type it in more than once.

I hate to say this but i had the predecessor to this cassette drive. If I can find it, I'll take a picture of it and post it :-) It's possible, though, that I gave it away a couple of years ago.

and, HEY, the cassette drive wasn't that slow. It transferred data at a whopping 600 baud... twice the speed of your modem!

Sigh... I hate to say it but my first modem was a 110 baud accoustically coupled modem. OMG. I think I hear my bones creaking now... :-(

Sigh!

Alas... I cannot tell a lie. I never had to use a punch card.

I can say, however, that if I did ever have to use them I would probably now be a lawyer and not a computer scientist. Thank goodness that didn't happen :-)

Lol I'd say just barely, I mean cmon she uses a MAC! I've asked her so many questions any self respecting computer scientist should know and gotten no anwers! I wanted to know the name of a certain graph but noooo she doesnt do graph theory. I ask for a simple math proof but noooo she wont do that. And my goodness her server wasnt even setup correctly, for shame!

I talked it over with some of my old professors and they said that basically girls just arent that good with computers.

BTW: I'm in need of the services of a bodyguard if anyone knows a good one please msg me as I feel that my life may be in danger.

Sigh. When evaluating a student, it's a good technique to see what they are capable of doing on their own. Tsk tsk, Megor.

If I was a math prof, I'd be happy to. It would be better if you actually asked some "computer science" questions.
And my goodness her server wasnt even setup correctly, for shame!
You're just jealous that my server is bigger than yours :p

Hmmmm... old professors. Yes... I know all about old professors. They probably still think that mercury delay lines are a good memory technology. Drag yourself into the 21st century, Megor!

You should stick with it Sonya. Women really do make the best computer scientists. Although, the negative side of the job is that you work with so many men. It can be quite time consuming to be continually tip-toeing around so many fragile egos :)
