General Protection Faults

Does anyone know what causes "general protection fault" and "assertion failed"? They are errors that shut down UT in the middle of matches. In game, they only occur during internet play, so my connection might have something to do with it. However, general protection faults close down UnrealEd too if I hit a wrong sequence of keys or buttons.

Is it my connection, my computer, my UT cd? I'm stumped :? .

UT is unstable, can happen at any time, I always get em in unrealED, about once every 5 mins, usually after I've put down a mover and clicked on the wireframe :D
