Return of a {qoou} Server

Hey All,

I'll be starting up another UT Server hopefully by the weekend. Last time I added mutators that looked like they were fun to play. I'll be doing the same, but this time I am going to set it up initialy to switch between Mods. The mods I have working in Mapvote right now are LeagueAS140, FragBall, JailBreak, MonsterHunt, and Rocket Arena. It all seems to work now on my at-home server so I'm hoping it'll work online as well. The version of mapvote I'll be using for this has the ability to add mutators, but because the big Mods (except LeagueAssault140) all run as a different gametypes the mutators basically become useless.

So my thought at the present is to have two versions of mapvote available to run. One with Mods (GameTypes) and one with Mutators (same as before). It'll take an admin to switch between them. I'll be running a version of WebAdmin that will allow me to set different levels of admins and tailor their abilites. The biggest will be to switch between mapvotes. So if you might be interested in this capability let me know. It'll be a few days before I get the server tweaked to where it needs to be.

I proposed to Cap't that we throw a {qoou} label on the server and if I can come with the $1.5 million he demanded to infringe on the {qoou} copyright, the {qoou}'s will have their own server. If anyone has any request for Mods/Mutator/Maps for the server feel free to speak up.

Unfortunatley because of VoDk@'s driving abilities in StrangeLove it probaly won't make it on the server. His inabilites to do Loop-d-Loops was sad. He caused me to spit Coke outta my nose watching him attempt that more than once. I can't go through that again. :lol:

I'll put the mods installed on the server on my webpage so you can download them and install them yourself instead of connecting for the first time and having download a boatload of files. This will also give you a chance to read the ReadMe files for each gametype and get familiar with it and practice it with bots offline.

:weirdassdance: After a marathon uploading session (maps,mods,muts) the server is finaly up and running. It's listed on the Assault Game Tab in UT (when it's actually playing Assault) so if you see it there, add it as a favorite, cuz next time you look it might be playing some other gametype. :crazyeyes:

If you don't have Frag*Ball, JailbreakGoldIII, Monster Hunt or Strangelove installed, I recommend going here and downloading and installing them from your side to save on a bunch of download time off of the server.


I'm still working on some parts of SuperAdmin. The method for you's guys and gals to change the server from Gametype to Mutators seems to work good. :poopcorn:

[Apparently there are issues between some Monster Hunt Maps and UTPure. I have removed the problem ones for now, and the fix is on long list of things to do. :roll:

I'll post more later on swtiching between Mods and Mutators. I'll be tinkering with it all night, so hopefully I don't restart it just as you are about to win a map in record time. :evil:

In renting the server, I had an option for paying for a Public server $50. or a Private $36. So I went with the cheaper option :lol: and made the password available. It's also listed in admin name and email in the Assault tab window.

heh Jailbreak, MonsterHunt, Frag*Ball, and Strangelove are 100mb zipped... :shock: So it going to take some time... That why I put all the mods on a website (in earlier post) so you wouldn't have to let the redirection server do all the work. :lol: If your talking about the qoou.bfgserver where I put up all the zip files, I just d'l'd a 6.7mb in 7 secs..:?: Time to trade up from that 300baud modem hmmm :)

Actually Cap't I'll probaly leave them up for a few days then take them down I already got notice I am about to exceed my web storage space. :) plus anyone who hasn't d/l'd them has got them off the server, but thanks for the offer...

The way I hoped the server would work, was to have 2 seperate Mapvotes (only 1 would run at a time) All Assault maps would load with the Mutators on one Mapvote, and if/when an admin switched to the other Mapvote it would load only the maps for Frag*Ball, MonsterHunt, Rocket Arena, JailBreak this was a dandy idea but the server does not deal well when switching between game types ie. from Frag*Ball to MonsterHunt. So for the time being, it is easier set up some Quick Config in WebAdmin and let the admins switch the gametypes from there. This means no mapvote and untill it is switched back, it is in whatever gametype it was left in.

That's not a bad thing, just not the way I was hoping to work it out. I set the QuickConfigs up for s_K and Cap't. If you want to play any other mod than LeagueAssault contact any of the three of us, it is easy and quick to change, no server reboot is needed.

I lowered the Frag*Ball limit to win by 7 (or 10 I forgot) or 5 minutes whichever comes first. It was set to indefinte, Thats a long time :)

To clarify, what I was saying. :)

If the server is in LeagueAssault140 maps there will be mapvoting with mutators, if it's in any other gametype ie Frag*ball no mapvote is available.

I was fooling around tonight and made some replacement flags for CTF.

I put them on the server but somethings not quite right. After going from a CTF map back to Assault, it tends to kick from CSHP. I know what reasons it's giving for kicking, just not sure why it is. It's a Hud issue from SplashLogo and Mapvote Welcome screen. It's possible I may have to change the order of the server packages. O'well gives me something to do.

I enabled CTF maps in the mutators mapvote. Give it a look.

If you get booted alot let me know, I 'll deal with it (Fri) evening. It's late, I'm tired. :)

Anyways the reason for this post is to show ya some pics of the new flags. If you look real close in-game at the flags, you'll know its the real Cap't cuz his eyes move. :roll:
