I saw that you have a paypal acount before going to the server today. So I sent you the 20 bucks I have in there right now ( im mountain west cleaning systems ) 8) Then I went to the server and it won't work :) How much does the server cost.
My nephew has a t1 line and it costs him $1500 a month. That's pretty steep. Hope your not paying that much.

****Here's a copy of the other thread regarding Server Donations in the Clan Discussion Area.***

For those of you who expressed a want to pitch in for the server cost, here's the info.

PayPal
[removed]

Anything you send will be greatly appreciated. I just got finished updating my PayPal account status to be "Verified" so it'll be a coupla days before that happens. (I don't use it much so I never bothered) My account has been opened for 2 years.

Those who don't have PayPal and still want to donate, PM me for more info.

The current cost for the server as it is configured now. 12 Player/Private (Passworded) is $36.00 a month.

If interested here's the Price page breakdown from BFG. --> http://www.bfgservers.com/ut.php

There might be cheaper servers but not many allow Strangelove (aerial) mods/muts for UT. Strangelove is a must. Smile

I opted for Private because of the price. I also did everything possible to ensure the password is available to anyone (who can both read and has the ability to see the "password=qoou" in the admin name and admin email) If people won't or can't reads the password, then O'well their loss.

@Lemi, Firstly Thanks for the donation! :) I thought I saw you in the games tonight so I don't understand when you say it didn't work??? Do you mean the server or the paypal link?

Also Thanks to Rickshaw, special_Kare, and CaptonObivious (aka CaptAngus) :) for thier dontations.

If you send in a dontation, somewhere in the note put your Nick so I can Thank you on the Forums.

I was impressed the Server held up well in some 6v6 Strangelove matches tonight. That mutator really taxes the server. :) Appartently CTF-Fifa kept crashing peoples UT, that's a shame fun, fast, tight map for Strangelove.

That's great !! so you can rent it and it's cheap. My nephew doesn't have a clue what to do with 99% of his bandwidth. If I know what I was doing I could use his :?

Yeah and it costs the same for a 12 player public as a 20 player private. It would be sweet if we could get enough donations to have a 20 player server. There's an argument for growing the clan. ;)

That's the thing with the SL mod in place that many providers don't like since it takes a lot of CPU power. My UT AS server is only $35 a month for 24 ppl & private. I have yet to add more stuff since I got real busy for the past 3 months.

May consider though the Rocket-X version (an updated SL-type) to use, though not sure if the drain is any diff.

Yep exactly, there are not many Gameserver operators who will even allow aerial type UT games. I wanted it, it's just to damn fun not to have. If I have to pay more then so be it. :) Looking at the UTStats page SlvCTF maps are just as popular as anything else.

XRocket is going to be a similar drain on the server I'm sure. I have it and have been meaning to install it for some time. the rockets are actually little planes that fire bullets, shock like lasers, or drop deemer like bombs. It'll be different from Strangelove.

On a side note - Flatus are you the author of AS-astrangerace ? or someone from your clan? just curious. I liked the idea of an assault strangelove map that I made my own. Its on the server AS-{qoou}Race. Give it a try. (end of shameless plug) :D

Sorry, but I don't map (although if I had lots of time on my hands...). That map (along with a few others too) was done by Merlinium (member of the DAMIT clan) & was 1st used on the clan's SL server when it was up for a while (was taken down later when it was effecting the other 3 servers back then). But I do still have all those maps used for SL racing & the like. I'll see if I can get on & get that map you said too.
