piston launch help

I hate to say this for fear of sounding like a total noob, but i can not for the life of me consistantly piston launch, its sporadic and most of the time i dont even try!!! anyone have any suggestions on what i may be doing wrong?? might help my times out too

LOL , Dont worry m8 , almost evryone had to go thru learning how to properly hammer launch - and it can be a pain in the ass . Ok , say youre attacking overlord.Youre on the beach , no snipers ,no guards , just you and a teamate - and hes a noob . Set a launch by pointing your piston at the target you want to launch your team8 to ( cannon hole in this example ), and right click at it a few times - that will set the launch to the destination properly.Then , turn around and left click and load your hammer ,aiming a little bit up.Once your team8 is @ ur hammer , simply let go of it and slightly flick it up (if youre afraid you might not get him high enough). If youre still having trouble for sum reason , i can teach u any day , just add me on msn and ill set up a server and show you every hammer launch giving you trouble . Have fun launching away !

launching using that ^ method will be a big pain in the ass 4 u SK.
here is a much simple method. take out ur impacy hammer. look as up as u can and alt fire once/twice. now without releasing the alt fire button press the normal fire button. dont realease the normal fire button. then look at the person u want to launch. thats it! u dont have to fire the piston at the teammate nor flick it upwards . just stand at teh right spot aiming the piston at the person who is to be launched.

i cant hammer launch on frigate

i've done it once by luck but... how do i do it?

Dont aim straight down , just slighty down from normal position and launch off the very edge (backwards - obvoiusly)

LD 8242 pls look under the off topic section. there u will find a thread named keybind. in it there is a keybind for impact hammer launch (single). its very useful in maps like frigate, mazon and sometimes on Guardia (only if u manage to get to past the bridge ). anyways if u need anyhelp using that bind do lemme know. and as amazing said, u have to aim the hammer at an angle of 45 degrees @ frigate to get to the back deck. pls do look at the bind coz it rox!

umm... it sounds dumb i know but where do i put the binds mentioned in keybinds?

Yeah there's a .ini file that you can do it with.

Or you can set keybinds by opening the console in Unreal and typing in 'Preferences'. Then just go to 'Advanced' and 'Raw Key Bindings'.

Sorry to have to re-hash the issue but i have a question. ahem' a STUPID question. I know how to launch other people but im not clear on how to set Myself to be launched by someone else. i usually just end up hammering them away somtimes fatally .

Are you talking about a regular launch, or a dbl? In a regular launch, you dont need to use your hammer at all. Just run toward the launcher, and jump right before you hit them.

In a dbl, run towards the launcher until you're close to them, then look straight down and launch yourself right as they're launching you.

Why use a keybind ?

I thought that maybe people were not losing health when they used a keybind but that doesn't seem to be the case. So , why is a keybind usfull to hammer launch ?

Well, regularly when you launch you have to switch to your hammer, click and hold down your mouse, look down, and jump & release your mouse at exactly the same time. With a keybind you just hold down a button, look down, and release it.

It eliminates finding your hammer, frees up your mouse-hand movements, and (most imporantly) it releases your hammer & makes you jump at exactly the same time - ensuring higher/further launches.

I seee No wonder I wasn't getting the hang of it I need to change the button that keybinds that hammer because I chose one that I can't reach the run backwards and it at the same time very easily. I also need a keybind for killing myself. What other keybinds do you think will be helpfull ?

That's a great idea !! I was trying to think of a key that I could hold down while holding down the run backwards button then release it with the same hand without releasing the run backwards button also I'm not that coordinated The middle mouse button should do nicely since I use it to change weapons anyway !! Perfect.

Now I just need to read about how to do a keybind again
